The Mark Rodriguez Worship Scholarship
This scholarship is given in honor of NCS junior Mark Rodriguez, who went to be with the Lord in 2014, on his way home from Norfolk Christian’s graduation ceremony. Mark relentlessly pursued Jesus and was never happier than when he was leading others into his Savior’s presence through worship.
Mark’s story and testimony, as told through his journals, independently inspired two Norfolk Christian alumni to establish an ongoing scholarship that will carry on Mark’s legacy. These two alumni and the class of 1985 have collectively provided over $13,000 towards an endowed scholarship with a goal of a $25,000 endowment to sustain the award annually and benefit future students.
Who is eligible to apply?
Any rising NCS 9th – 11th grader who exhibits a heart for leading others in worship. Must be endorsed by the director of Fine Arts at NCS. Other key attributes of a qualified applicant include: passion, leadership, teach-ability, calling, giftedness, and potential for growth and development.
What does the scholarship cover?
The 2021 scholarship funds of $1000 will cover extracurricular activities, classes, and equipment that enhance the student’s abilities to lead worship at Norfolk Christian and/or pursue future opportunities at the collegiate or professional level. Examples are: worship camp or summer worship internship costs, private instrumental or music lessons, equipment to enhance performance, etc.
