WE ARE CHRISTIAN
With only five Christian schools existing across the state of Virginia, Norfolk Christian was founded in 1952 to offer Christian parents excellence in academic education combined with an unapologetic commitment to training in the Christian faith. Fifty-seven graduating classes later, our dedication to molding Ambassadors for Christ has not wavered.
WHAT MAKES NORFOLK CHRISTIAN UNIQUE?
“It is the mission of Norfolk Christian Schools to equip students spiritually, intellectually and physically to love God and to serve Him as Christ’s ambassadors in the world.”
Taken from II Corinthians 5:20 “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.“, this mission was established by Reverend John Dunlap and continues to guide all we do.
Accreditation and Memberships
Norfolk Christian is proud to be one of the few faith-based schools in the state to earn accreditation from the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). VAIS requires a rigorous accreditation process which examines programming, curriculum, classroom techniques and faculty to ensure the highest level of excellence.
We are honored to have been chosen as a Member of Council school with the Council for Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA). CESA is a faith-based organization whose mission is “…to hold accountable Christian schools that aspire to superlative academic standards and institutional best practices…”.
Norfolk Christian is an original, founding member of the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools (TCIS) athletic conference and competes at the statewide level in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA).
We believe relationships are the foundation of every success; our staff and faculty are therefore fiercely dedicated to building them with each student and family. There is no greater hallmark of Norfolk Christian than the mentor bond between teacher and student.
From preschool through graduation, students enjoy a unique culture of academic and spiritual challenge, local and global service, and chances to compete in numerous athletic, fine arts and knowledge-based activities. Our commitment to offering exceptional college-preparatory curriculum and diverse programs in a Christian environment is unmatched in Hampton Roads.
