Upper School News

Due to the many homecoming activities next Friday, there will be no SSP offered at the Upper School on October 20th. 

Homecoming 2017 - You've been waiting forever's time to come home!
This is a HUGE occasion in NCS history - our first true homecoming on our own field!  Please join us to celebrate on Friday, October 20th at Moore Family Field.  Wear your purple and show that Ambassador pride!  A special pre-game show will highlight our graduating football and cheer seniors and recognize some familiar faces from our inaugural football team of 2005 and state championship team of 2010.

*Tailgating: ONLY A FEW SPOTS LEFT!  Want the best spot in the lot?  Reserve your tailgating space and enjoy premium parking for this packed-out event!  The cost to reserve your spot is $15 (non-refundable) per car. Use the link in the PDF document to register online then drop your check or cash off at any campus office by October 16th.

*Parking:  Parking in the school lot will be through tailgate reservation only. Other spaces will be reserved for car decorating, featured alumni and our guests from Portsmouth Christian. For all other NCS family parking, please use the lots at Tabernacle Church of Norfolk and The Greek Orthodox Cathedral.  These will be open and available for general parking all evening.

Homecoming Volunteer Sign up​
Use the link on the PDF document to sign up to help out with the Homecoming Dance and/or parking the night of the Homecoming Game.  We've sent out an e-mail to those of you who have expressed interest through the volunteer survey, but you are welcome to sign up even if you didn't receive that email.

Community Expectations - Avoiding Plagiarism​
This month we are focusing on "Collaborating on assignments and then producing a final product that is uniquely yours." To encourage and inform our students we announced this week:​

You can save a lot of time and energy simply by asking ‘How should I cite my sources,’ or ‘What style of citation should I use?’ before you begin writing. Please use the link on the PDF document as a good resource to answer any questions you may have about citing sources and how to avoid plagiarizing.

New Teacher
The Fine Arts Department is excited to welcome Valerie Smith as our new digital arts teacher!  She is responsible for teaching Photoshop, Photography and Publications (yearbook).  She comes to us as a master teacher with significant experience; we are thrilled and blessed to have her.  You can reach Mrs. Smith at​

Pizza Sales
Pizza sales at the Upper School will continue every Friday after school.​ $1.50/slice. Proceeds go to the Junior/Senior Prom​ Fund.  

​Women's Bible Study
There is an opportunity to attend a women's bible study for NCS parents again this year.  We will be meeting every other Wednesday morning 8:30-10:00 am in the Lower School Music/Art room.  This study will start October 18.  Questions?  Contact Stephanie Frantz at 757-572-0228. 

MS Wyldlife News​​
THERE WILL BE NO BREAKFAST CAMPAIGNERS THIS WEEK! ​We will resume meeting next week October 20th!  ​7AM-7:50AM at NCS in room M1.

Once a month there will be an ALL-AREA WYLDLIFE CLUB!  Mark your calendars for October 21st and November 18th!  (Dates are subject to change) 

WyldLife is for Norfolk Christian students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Please let me (Ryan) know if your student is now in 9th grade as he/she should move up to Young Life. If you let me know, I will make sure your email is moved to the Young Life email group.

State law requires a new athletic participation medical exam for each academic calendar year. Physicals are valid from May 1st through the following April.
