but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:20-21
A: The Annual Fund provides a comprehensive Christ-centered, college preparatory educational experience that prepares our students to excel while limiting our reliance on tuition. Gifts to the Annual Fund are used during the current school year to:
  • Advance learning by consistently evaluating curriculums and teaching methodology, integrating current technology, and hands-on experiences for students
  • Provide a wide range of competitive co-curricular offerings including outstanding athletic and fine arts programs
  • Maintain our campus and our facilities to be safe and inviting
  • Provide tuition aid to families who qualify based on need
  • Retain and recruit the best employees
A: Our board is committed to keeping tuition increases minimal to ensure that we don’t prohibit families from having the opportunity of a Norfolk Christian education for their children. Additionally, the Annual Fund is not only the responsibility of our current families but also an effort of our extended community. Each year we are blessed to receive support from corporations, foundations, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, employees and friends. Through the generosity of many, we can maintain the balance of excellence in Christian education and remain attainable to a diverse community.
A: We are constantly evaluating programs, personnel, curriculum, and operations with a desire to be prudent stewards of God’s resources. This prayerful evaluation includes reducing expenses whenever possible, but only when a high standard of quality is maintained for our people and programs.
A: Yes. Most large independent and Christian schools have Annual Fund programs.
A: A large majority of the financial aid distributed to qualifying families comes through a supporting foundation, the Dunlap Garrick Christian Community Foundation (DGCCF). DGCCF participates in two tax credit programs offered through the Commonwealth of Virginia which provide donors with state tax credits for gifts made to the foundation for the express purpose of providing financial aid to families who qualify under low income thresholds. (See Education Foundation) Remaining financial aid comes from general donor support and a small amount from the Annual Fund.
organizatoina A: Financial Aid is provided to applicants who demonstrate the need based on factors such as household income and number of students applying. All applications are processed and assessed by an independent third party organization and then an internal committee who distributes financial aid according to need and the aid money available in the current year.
A: Gifts designated to the Worthy Servants Fund honor the efforts of our teachers and staff and recognize that they are the bridge between our students and a Christian worldview. All gifts to the Worthy Servants Fund are paid directly to all faculty and staff in the form of a bonus twice annually, at Christmas at the end of the school year.
A: A group of those who support the Annual Fund in a significant way. Each member provides at least $1,000 per year over five years in order that Norfolk Christian students might be salt and light to the world as ambassadors for Christ.
A: We believe the stewardship of personal resources God has to entrusted you is a matter to be prayerfully considered. We ask that, after your church, you make the educational ministry of Norfolk Christian School a priority in your giving. Each year families give according to what they have prayerfully considered and God uses all gifts, both great and small, to impact each student.
A: Gifts to any of our Funds can be made by cash, check or credit card. We also receive gifts of appreciated stock as some have found this a good way to maximize the size of their gift and minimize capital gains taxes. You may donate online here. Gifts by check are made payable to Norfolk Christian Schools and mailed to the school, Attn: Advancement Office, at 255 Thole Street, Norfolk, VA 23505 If you have additional questions or need assistance with making your gift, please contact Rick Nikkel in the Office of Advancement at 757-233-8448, or by email RNikkel@norfolkchristian.org.
A: Yes, if your employer has a matching gift program. Norfolk Christian meets most requirements necessary to match a gift. Your employer’s Human Resources Department can provide you with the necessary matching gift application forms. Additionally, all gifts to the current Honor The Past . . . Secure The Future Capital Campaign, incuding gifts to the athletic field lights, are matched one for one by a local family foundation.
